Online Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players around the world. While wagering on online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
