No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
