Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
