Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
