Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card standard deck and a single joker. The player is given seven cards face up and the casino is dealt 7 cards face down.
A 5 card hand and a 2 card hand need to be put together from the seven cards dealt, the 5 card hand must be higher than the two card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand values to be better than the houses.
