NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
