Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
