Focus on Annie Duke

Annie Duke may not have came away with her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but Annie remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited World Series of Poker win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker go crazy after a huge success at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her 4 kids. She hails from New Hampshire and was raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, Howard taught Annie the correct way to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is not a small change girl and has earned her share of hard games, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions.

Earning well over three million dollars in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a advisor to both UltimateBet and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to hone his techniques to become a force in poker.

You may see Annie at the Bellagio, you will see her on television and you may even compete against her in an online poker game, but do not count on a simple win. Unless you are a up and coming master, you will not defeat her. However, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
